Some websites out there claim the new HTC Droid Incredible 2 can be unlocked by purchasing an unlock code. Unfortunately, the short story is that this is not possible and the Droid Incredible 2 is not able to be unlocked simply by using an unlock code. Many of these claims may come from the fact that any GSM or SIM card based device, can often be unlocked in this fashion. However, the new HTC Droid Incredible 2 is actually a CDMA cell phone. In fact all cell phones from Verizon Wireless are provided as CDMA phones.

Hopefully this debunks this little myth or idea that has been popping up in Google lately. There is however, potential to unlock this device in other ways. Although, there are no services offering this yet, some CDMA cell phones can be successfully unlocked by using some unlock software that you execute on your cell phone with a special computer cable.
