The Samsung A797 Flight is one of Samsung’s newest GSM phones to hit the market. Unlocking the Samsung A797 luckily should be just as easy as many other SIM based phones offered by Samsung. I have listed some instructions below that should help you unlock your Samsung A797 Flight if you are looking to use it with a different phone carrier then you purchased it with. Before you can unlock your Samsung Flight you will need an unlock code. You can try reading my previous article on how to get free Samsung unlock codes if you are interested. Otherwise, you should try and contact your phone carrier or consult a professional unlocking website for more help.
Once you have an unlock code for your Samsung A797 Flight you are ready to use the instructions provided below. It is important to note that entering in multiple incorrect unlock codes could permanently lock your new phone. Here are the instructions:
Unlock Samsung A797 Flight
1. Turn on your Samsung mobile phone without the SIM card in.
2. Type #7465625*638*
3. Now enter your 8-digit unlock code
4. Type #
5. If worked, phone should say “Network Lock Deactivated”
6. Your Samsung phone may automatically reboot at this point.

I have a Samsung flight phone, I was given the following to unlock
1- Power off device and remove the SIM card.
2- Power on the handset.
3- Enter: # 0 1 1 1 * unlock code #.
(I typed in #0111*code number given#
Am I suppose to type it in where would make a call and hit dial or something to enter the information,or would I enter the unlocking numbers somewhere else)

Finally was able to get it unlocked by AT&T #0111* which was originally given did not work, wanted to be super careful typed in the correct number (from this website) #7465625*638*UNLOCK CODE# Be aware be super careful because 638 comes out as _ _ _ and so does the unlock code come out as _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ so make certain type in the correct unlock code. AT@T had given me the unlocking information and went over step by step. I had purchased my phone on line from a non AT&T I tested the phone right afterwards with a T-Mobile sim card which have as a prepaid and works. Now all need to do is get rid of the AT&T Screen on my just unlocked cell phone. Its crazy how some places charge $3.00 to $30.00 to unlock a cell phone when is very easy to do yourself if have the correct codes. Plus never know where credit card information ends up going to as have to be so darn careful.

Hey Leslie, great job! Im sorry I couldnt respond to you earlier. But yes on some phones the unlock code will come out as blanks for privacy or some other matter. I’m glad you were able to get a free unlock code for your phone.

No, each unlock code is unique to that phone and is generated from the IMEI number on your Samsung Flight.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any current unlock code generators that work with the Samsung Flight, however, if your phone carrier is AT&T, they shouldn’t have a problem providing one for you, if you have had service for at least 3 months. Otherwise you may have to look to purchasing one from an online vendor.

I have had a Samsung Flight for a few weeks now- today I left it in my purse without locking the screen, and when I took it out, it demanded an unlock code. After a few tries, it told me that I had exceeded my allowed number of password attempts. Not knowing what else to do, I shut it off and turned it back on. Now it says:
“SIM unavailable
Please contact
service provider”
And the only options are “SOS” and “call”
When I hit “call”, it takes me to my dialing screen, but I can’t call/text, or access my address book (the three options at the bottom).

Corinna, is it possible for you to call your phone carrier from a different phone (other then your Samsung A797 Flight)? Furthermore, if you have a family member or friend with a SIM card for the same company, you can simply put theirs in and use it temporarily to make the call. Unfortunately, in your case when the SIM locks like that you need a security code to unlock it. The phone companies should and will have to help you in this matter. I am really sorry for what has happened to you and hope that everything works out. All I have really been able to find is this article that has some different types of codes. You can try some of these to unlock the status on your SIM or something. Nothing really any worse can happen to your Samsung’s SIM at this point.

Hey Bailey. I would suggest ensuring that you are entering your unlock code correctly. Otherwise, you may need to get a valid one. I wouldn’t suggest trying that same code several more times, as entering more then 3 incorrect unlock codes, can sometimes enable a security lock. Good luck!

Hello…I purchased an unlock code from one of your vendors…and was super careful to type it in…acording to your instructions…as soon as I finsihed typing it in…the screen flashed..(if it sad something..I missed it! it was for a second only)..then I heard a beep..and it went to the menu…my question is this…how do I know if the unlock was successsful or unsuccessful before going to t-mobile to activate?..is there somewhat I can tell??..phone doesnt seem any different…how can I tell?..

HI nessa. Glad to hear your Samsung Flight A797 was successfully unlocked. As far as improving your service with the carrier, that is really dependent on them and where they are cell phone towers located at. I would reccomend turning off your Samsung Flight and powering it back on after a little while. Usually this will cause the phone to look for new cell phone tower’s aka access points around. This should hopefully refersh your phone’s listing of towers and get you better service. Otherwise I would suggest just calling up your phone carriers support number and telling them this. hey, when i try to enter the code it doesnt work. it says ‘phone lock’ at the top of the screen and only lets me enter 8 numbers. when i try to type in the # sign it says ’4 to 8 digits required’. and ive tried my at&t PUK code, it says incorrect password.

That seems normal. If you are fine with no cellular service and desire to use the mobile device for other purposes such as music, camera, and WiFi, then your good to go!
