Want to unlock a Nokia N900 for free? Unlocking a Nokia N900 is very similar to unlocking most other Nokia N-series phones and almost all SIM based mobile phones for that matter. The instructions I have provided in this article are based on the instructions in my How To Unlock A Nokia Phone guide and require you to have an unlock code before beginning. You can usually get a free unlock code by contacting your service provider or using some unlock software.
An unlock code is essentially used to deactivate the SIM lock that is put on most phones by default. Once you have disabled the SIM lock on your N900 you will be able to use it on any phone carrier’s network and receive service from them. If this isn’t what you wanted or expected then unlocking is probably not for you. Furthermore, entering multiple incorrect unlock codes in a row can permanently lock up your phone! So make sure you have a working unlock code before begining the steps provided below. Otherwise you should consult a professional service or online vendor for unlocking your Nokia N900. Here are the steps to unlock your phone:
How To Unlock A Nokia N900
1. Power on your Nokia N900
2. Type #PW+UNLOCKCODE+1# (Where UNLOCKCODE is your Nokia N900′s unlock code)
3. Your N900 should say “SIM Restriction Off”

You can usually get the other non-numerical characters by hitting the * key several times. Hope that helps!

Hi! Can somebody help me, i bought new n900 about 2 months ago, and today i tried to secure device (to enter lock code), but it’s saying that i entered incorrect code, but i didn’t write any code before. how i can make my lock code & change previous? It’s some bug from nokia? In new device there is lock code which nobody knows. Thank you
You can’t enter the “W” at the n900…but you don’t have to because there are no locked n900s.

Yes, it may be the case that all Nokia N900′s are currently sold already unlocked. However, it is possible in the future or that in a country other then your own that the Nokia N900 is sold locked to a carrier. The instructions above will simply allow you to unlock your Nokia GSM cell phone. So if you happen to get ahold of a N900 they should work, but it may be the case that there are none in your area.
Well, it appears some Nokias are defo locked if they come form Euro countries other than UK. Like my one is proper locked, and no UK sim works. I am also wondering what is the way to enter W before the unlock code?
Admin: Whith all do respect, you wrote the whole article about how to unlock the Nokia N900, but failed to explain how to successfully enter the w. I dont know where you got the information from about unlocking this phone, but it seems invalid.
Would be very grateful if you did research on how to make this N900 writie w letter.
