How To Get An Unlock Code

Getting a free unlock code by requesting it from the carrier may not always work. Alternatively, I recomend trying to find your code by using an instant unlock site or service.

  3. Hey Sam, try contacting your current phone carrier’s support and tell them you need an unlock code. In exchange they will need your phone’s IMEI number, which you can learn more about by reading my previous article. Hope it helps!

  4. @Andrew
You can find your Blackberry Curve 8520′s IMEI number by typing *#06# on your phone and hitting enter. If your Blackberry Curve does not output a 15 digit IMEI number, then you probably have a CDMA version of the phone. In this case, you will need to look at other methods of unlocking your Blackberry Curve. I would just start with Google and see what you find. Hope this helps :)

  5. Hey vsrp, you can obtain a free unlock code for your Blackberry by contacting your phone carrier and requesting one. This does not always work, but I have had success with both AT&T and T-Mobile. If you cannot get an unlock code from them, then you may have to look to buying a cheap unlock code online somewhere. Good luck!

  16. Hey veller, if you do not have the SIM card from your older phoen carrier, then you can try turning on the phone without a SIM card in and run the steps. However, often times if you start a GSM cell phone without a SIM card in, it will immediately ask you for your security/unlock code. Good luck!

  17. I am on t-mobile right now, but I will be in the middle east for the next two weeks.

Can I unlock the phone – use it abroad – and then turn it back into a t-mobile phone by inserting my original SIM card?

It seems that most people want it unlocked indefinitely, I just need it unlocked for a week before I start using it again with T-mobile.
