Toshiba has finally decided to join the smartphone market, in releasing the TG01. In this post I plan to review the phone’s specs and release date. Toshiba’s new mobile phone is touchscreen and will run Windows Mobile 6.5 for an operating system. Furthermore, the TG01 is packing a 1Ghz CPU which is impressibe even among it’s competitors. In addition, this will be the first appearence of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in a mobile phone. Others have be announced, but with no confirmed release dates.

The phone’s overall design is very similar to the Apple iPhone or HTC Touch HD. In fact, the TG01 is only 9mm thick! At the same time, Toshiba managed to pack a huge 4.1 inch LED screen that displays a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Let’s take a look at some specifications for the Toshiba TG01:

So far, Toshiba has not released any prices we can expect on the new phone, but has said that it should be available this Summer 2009. Hopefully later this summer we will get some more specific release dates to post.
