This leaked screen capture from Best Buy shows the release date of Samsung Omnia 2 i8000 to be August 23rd. The leak also shows the release date for several other new Samsung smartphones. We can probably expect Best Buy to have the Samsung Omnia 2 in stores by August 23rd. Toshiba has finally decided to join the smartphone market, in releasing the TG01. In this post I plan to review the phone’s specs and release date. Toshiba’s new mobile phone is touchscreen and will run Windows Mobile 6.5 for an operating system. Furthermore, the TG01 is packing a 1Ghz CPU which is impressibe even among it’s competitors. In addition, this will be the first appearence of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in a mobile phone. Others have be announced, but with no confirmed release dates.

The phone’s overall design is very similar to the Apple iPhone or HTC Touch HD. In fact, the TG01 is only 9mm thick! At the same time, Toshiba managed to pack a huge 4.1 inch LED screen that displays a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Let’s take a look at some specifications for the Toshiba TG01:

Toshiba TG01 Release Date

So far, Toshiba has not released any prices we can expect on the new phone, but has said that it should be available this Summer 2009. Hopefully later this summer we will get some more specific release dates to post.

Welcome the newly confirmed Nokia N900. Since being rumored at the Open Source In Mobile conference last year, the Nokia N900 has received little attention untill now. In this post, I will cover the specs and release date of Nokia’s newest mobile phone. Additionally, on the bottom left of the post is a leaked image of the Nokia N900 that I found on engadget’s website earlier today.

The newer N900 is very similar to Nokia’s N97 and N810. Physically the N900 looks very similar in shape and design to the N97. Both have a nice 3.5 inch touchscreen and slide out QWERTY keyboard. However, the N900 has a much higher resolution, being 800×480 verses 360×640. Furthermore, the N900 will have an acceloerometer and is going to come in either 32GB or 48GB storage sizes. Below I have provided a list of the newly released specs on the N900.

Nokia N900 Release Date

Overall, the N900 looks to be a promising new smartphone that we are used to seeing from Nokia. As far as release dates go, Nokia recently announced that T-Mobile USA will release the N900 in August/September 2009 and T-Mobile International in July 2009.
