Motorola Backflip UnlockedA Motorola Backflip unlocked runs on all GSM networks. The Motorola Backflip needs an unlock code to remove it’s SIM lock. Essentially a SIM lock comes on most Motorola phones that use a SIM card. This SIM lock prevents them from working with other carriers then the original one carrying the cell phone.

So first thing is first. You need a Motorola Backflip unlock code that is unique to your phone. You can sometimes get a free unlocking code by calling up your phone carrier’s support number and requesting one. In exchange, they will need your Backflip’s IMEI number (also unique to your phone). You can get this IMEI number by simply typing *#06# and hitting send/enter. If they will not provide you with a free unlock code then I recommend trying some of the services I have reviewed at the end of this post.

Once you have your unlock code you are ready to begin unlocking your Motorola Backflip. Now just follow the steps/instructions that I have provided below and your done!

How To Unlock Motorola Backflip

1. Reboot your phone with an unaccepted SIM card in.
*If the display reads “Enter Special Code”, enter the unlock code and press “OK”
*If the display does not read “Enter Special code”:
2. Press and hold the * key until an entry box is displayed.
3. Type *, #, 3, 2, # and press “OK”
4. Enter your Motorola unlock code and press “OK.”
5. Your Motorola phone should now display either “Completed” or
“Deleted”

How To Get An Unlock Code

Getting a free unlock code by requesting it from the carrier may not always work. Alternatively, I recomend trying to find your code by using an instant unlock site or service.

  1. Call the phone mobile phone company it is locked to. That is the only way to unlock any phone for free.

  2. I’m curious about the data feed, my ATT Backflip network menus are locked, will the unlock code open them as well? Or will my phone only be able to retreive data via WIFI when I am using a non-ATT SIM?

  3. It probably depends on whether the data feed feature your are talking of makes use of WiFi or not. Additionally, you may be able to use a data plan or whatever from another carrier and have it work. But if the feature is somehow run by the carrier or carrier specific then it will probably not work. So no way to know I guess, but unlocking basically just removes the SIM lock on the phone preventing another carrier’s SIM card from working.
