Method 1 worked for me. Called ATT and they gave me the unlock code - no hassle, no hoops, and I'm not even an ATT customer. One thing to keep in mind - when providing the IMEI # ton the customer service rep, make sure to omit the last 2 digits at the end - the two separated from the rest of the number. I initially provided the full number and they told me they couldn't find that number in their database. After some back and forth, they told me it looked like I had provided two extra digits, so they searched again without the Ast two and found it.
